Random Pick of the Day – Nokia 808 PureView Intro

Let's see how far we've come...

Let’s see how far we’ve come…

This is an unprocessed image (aside from cropping) of a 1970’s Thorn Solid State Stereophonic Radiogram.  Now what would you say if I told you this photo was taken with a smartphone? Yes, it was taken with a phone camera, however it is not any ordinary phone camera – enter the Nokia 808 PureView. With 41MP available for light capture on a 1/1.2 inch sensor, noisy artifacts and wobbly lines are a thing of the past…

Forty years ago, stereo audio equipment was just coming into fashion, and a “phone” was a big thing attached to the wall with many wires and a spinning disk. Now, you can get a phone that has the computing power of a desktop computer 10 years ago, has stereo audio recording and takes photos as good as most non-digital SLR cameras, all in a device you can fit in your hand!

I will have to experiment with the setting in this camera-phone, and then I will post a small review of the Nokia 808 PureView including some comparisons with the Samsung Galaxy Ace which I thought had a good camera (yes, it is more of a budget Android and is a few years older, but it will still be fun to compare 🙂 ).

I’m looking forward to bringing you some high quality photos in the future 🙂 The best photos are the ones where you had a camera with you…
